Basics:
Games are scheduled to begin at 6 PM.
There are three rounds that last up to approximately 50 minutes each.
First place gets a prize and two other players each get one prize each for fellowship. (I reserve the right to disqualify)
Fellowship gets its own section. I will provide paper for results from now on, and I ask you to rate each of your opponents on sportsmanship from 1 to 10, with 1 being the worst and 10 being the best. This will help alert me to any misconduct I may miss. Remember that it is about how "friendly" you thought they were, and not to take out bad dice rolls on them. Some examples of what I personally consider good sportsmanship consist of, but are not limited to:
- helpfulness. Did you forget something you knew and were previously doing such as using a healing factor trait and your opponent reminded you?
- pacing. Did your opponent take actions in a timely manner? Did he or she give you the chance to roll Shape Change for instance or did they intentionally hustle you?
- attitude. Were they respectful? For friendly events, was it lighthearted?
- fair play. Did they seek your opinion on if their die was cocked or not?
- integrity. Were they open about traits, special powers and the like that you weren't familiar with?
Ask yourself:
- does my team contain an excessive amount of probability control, perplex, and outwit? (A good rule of thumb is 1 use for every 300 points of the build total) Is it at least toward the end of the dial, a watered down version of the power, or granted by a conditional team ability such as Superman Enemy? Am I -abusing- wildcards? Is it "cheese?" Is it min/max for a friendly event?
- would I be reasonably frustrated if I had to face my own team? Be honest. Is it really necessary? Do I have to win at all costs?
- is my team somewhat "thematic?" (I'm not talking strictly keyword based, but spirit in accuracy)
- am I building my team to combat "cheese?"
Entry fees as posted.
All HeroClix elements are allowed unless otherwise noted.
Tuesday and Sunday house rules are separate from Thursday house rules.
In the event of a rules dispute, I will provide an interim ruling. I promise to keep it as unbiased as possible but mistakes can happen. I will apologize after I look up the answer if I am wrong.
Please consult the rulebook, powers and abilities card, and the players' guide for issues not addressed here (and because it's important to know what you're doing). An updated rulebook and a powers and abilities card are valuable resources to bring as well.
A reminder: if you honestly misplaced your documentation, please write it down ahead of time.
Also a reminder: Mr. Vasilakos is a truly professional businessman and a great guy who deserves recognition for all he does for us. Just throwing that out there.
Yet another reminder: the back table downstairs is for Battletech. Sorry, guys!
House Rules:
1. Don't be unsportsmanlike.
2. Purple ringed figures are allowed, as are promotional figures
3. If you convince me your force deserves a named keyword, I will grant you one even if it's a made up one.
4. Color coded two-player maps or smaller only.
Scenarios:
1/2/14 "Extraordinary Arena Legend" 400 points friendly.
A roll of 11 or 12 on any attack roll is a critical hit. A roll of 2 or 3 on any attack roll is a critical miss. (Reminder: critical hits are not what triggers knockback. Double sixes are as they are doubles)
Any successful attack roll resulting in doubles is a critical hit.
Abilities can't be countered. All characters can use Willpower if they can't already.
No battlefield conditions. $2 entry fee.
(A way to remember the scenario is to pretend the battlefield conditions Extraordinary Day, The Great Arena, and Legendary Day are all in effect simultaneously with no other battlefield conditions allowed nor the ability to cancel them.)
1/9/14 "AvX Month 1: Archenemies" 500 points competitive. Your force must include a character from the Avengers vs. X-Men starter of your chosen faction.
Friendly characters cannot share the same name as any other character on your force, and they cannot be the same character under a different name. "James Howlett" is considered "Wolverine" is considered "Logan."
(There's really no way to enforce this other than with my judge powers, and I will use them if I have to because let's be honest, I shouldn't have to. Just build a comic accurate team and you're good)
Each player chooses a friendly character to be an "Archenemy." All characters get - 3 to all combat values unless it is an archenemy making an attack against another archenemy. If an archenemy is KO'd, the player to whose force it belongs chooses another friendly character to become an archenemy.
ENTRY FEE TO BE DETERMINED. PLEASE CONTACT ME IF YOU ARE SERIOUSLY CONSIDERING ATTENDING AND WE CAN WORK OUT THE DETAILS.
1/16/14 "Push or Heal" 600 points friendly. Before the first game, you may choose "push" or "heal." If you choose "heal" nothing special happens to you. If you choose "push" your characters who don't already have Colossal Stamina may use Colossal Stamina, but not the benefits of it allowing automatic breakaway or its ability to make ranged combat attacks while adjacent to opposing characters. In addition, if you choose "push" you can't heal your characters and all game effects that would allow the turning of the combat dial counterclockwise are ignored. Please do not bring any figures with a mechanic that "breaks the game" if you plan on choosing "push." It is not good fellowship. $2 entry fee.
1/23/14 "Rip It Up" 500 points friendly. All players are assigned the feat "Rip It Up" at a zero point cost. Rip It Up is described below. All characters who are not Bystander Tokens and don't already have Super Strength possess Super Strength, but only to pick up and hold light objects. Thrown objects deal an extra damage. No entry fee.
RIP IT UP:
Prerequisite: Super Strength
"Before a target character begins a move as part of a move, power, or free action, give it a light object token from outside the game."
(If you have questions, starting on page 20 of the 2013 rulebook discusses Tactics. If you still have questions, ask me.)
1/30/14 "Birthday Bash" 600 points friendly. No entry fee. (It's my birthday)
2/6/14 "Plus or Minus" 400 points friendly. Each player secretly chooses a friendly character to be the "Plus." At the beginning of any of your turns, you may reveal your Plus to your opponent. When you do, all its combat values are replaced with its "printed combat values + 1/friendly character, max +3; other friendly characters have a replacement value of "printed combat value -2." They may not be otherwise modified. No entry fee.
(The Cliff Notes version of this scenario is that you pick a figure to get effectively plus 1 to all stats for each other guy on your team to a maximum of plus three similar to like how the special object the Kinetic Accelerator works while your other guys suffer minus 2 to all stats when it is revealed. And Outsiders doesn't work on it. Apologies for the sloppy wording here and the confusing wording above.)

I look forward to seeing you!
